MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT FOR SAINT JOHN—ROTHESAY, NEW BRUNSWICK
WAYNE LONG
Look, folks, I’m your straight-talking MP from Saint John—Rothesay, and I’ll tell ya straight up—Europe’s got a right to protect its own identity, just like we’d fight tooth and nail for ours here in Canada. I’m not one to pussyfoot around with the fancy Ottawa crowd; I say it how I see it. Those European nations, they’ve got history, culture, and a way of life that’s been built over centuries—bloody centuries!—and they shouldn’t have to roll over and let it get watered down by folks who don’t get what makes ’em tick. I’d stand up in the Commons and say the same: you don’t fix what ain’t broke, and Europe’s got a right to keep its roots strong, not apologise for it. Call it ethnocentrism or just plain common sense—I’m not here to play word games—but I’d back ’em to keep their house in order, same as I’d fight for ours.
